From a very young age, Ivan Anthony Henares has been a staunch advocate for the preservation of Philippine heritage. He is Assistant Professor at the Asian Institute of Tourism of the University of the Philippines, Diliman. Currently, he is Head of the NCCA National Committee on Monuments and Sites, Vice President of the ICOMOS International Cultural Tourism Committee (ICTC), and Trustee of the Nayong Pilipino Foundation. He was President of the Heritage Conservation Society from 2013 to 2016. In 2012, he was named one of The Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) in the field of Heritage Conservation.
For over a decade, as a volunteer, he has been an active advocate of heritage conservation in the Philippines. He has created sustainable cultural tourism programs for indigenous communities in the Philippines, giving alternative and sustainable sources of livelihood for these neglected but culturally-significant stakeholders in tourism.
